I wish I could tell you that the intimacy I share with my husband was easy from the start—that all the books and premarital counseling sessions gave us a clear roadmap to connection, and that we simply followed the instructions.  

But the truth is, we struggled. 

Like many couples, we were told what sex should be: beautiful, effortless, full of passion and meaning. We heard testimonies and read books—some of which were well-intentioned but painted a picture too perfect to be true. We did all the “right” things. I was even working as a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist, so I knew what to do! 

But the advice I got did not prepare me for real life.
